In 1997, Sheila Vance lost her son, Sam, to a heroin overdose. "I thought if I could save one kid," Vance says, "Sam would be proud of me." To date, Sheila Vance has funneled more that $6 million to drug prevention and education programs through the nonprofit Sam Vance Foundation.
