Contact Lens Exams
written by Dr. Susan Reckell
If you need corrective lenses to enhance your vision, you may have considered the use of contact lenses. With contacts, you do not need to alter your appearance as you do with traditional eyeglasses. The first step in obtaining contact lenses to correct your vision is to call Riviera Opticare to schedule an appointment with one of our eye doctors. We have provided quality eye care to residents from Mesa, Scottsdale, and the surrounding communities for over 30 years. If you are ready to make the switch to contact lenses we can answer any questions you may have and help you explore your options.
Background Information Is Collected
During your appointment, you will be asked about your current eye care needs. This includes discussing any issues you are experiencing with your vision. Our eye doctor will evaluate this information and use it during the examination to determine your correction options and vision solutions with contacts. If you have vision insurance, bring along your insurance card so we can contact your provider at the time of your appointment.
Your Eyes Are Examined in Detail
Before our optometrist can provide you with contact lenses, we need to perform a series of tests to check on your eye health. These tests are quick, easy, and painless using state-of-the-art equipment in our office. Along with the eye health tests that are performed, our eye doctor will check your vision to determine your prescription strength for glasses as well as contacts.
Trying On Contact Lenses
Our optometrist will measure your corneas and irises to ensure that your contact lenses will fit perfectly. These tests are performed with equipment in our office and takes a few minutes. We will then discuss our contact lens recommendations to provide you the best product for your vision needs. We will use a pair of trial contact lenses to try on after your prescription and measurements are taken. After the contact lenses are in place, we will check your eyes once more to detect any difficulty or discomfort. One of our staff members will show you how to put in and remove your contacts if you’ve never used contact lenses.
